The Most Crucial Thing To Learn From Motherhood

Updated: Oct 29, 2018

What is the most crucial thing to learn from motherhood? My need for a Savior. Failing Motherhood.

There is nothing I have experienced quite like motherhood. Nothing as beautiful, and meaningful, and joyful. Nothing as difficult, and humbling.

There is nothing else that serves as such a daily reminder of my brokenness and my desperate need for a Savior quite like this motherhood gig.

Failing Motherhood. My need for a Savior. Lesson learned from Motherhood. Falling short. Being mom. I need Jesus. Faith throughout motherhood.

Those times when I act out of frustration rather than love…. I am broken.

Those times I find my voice raised unnecessarily as I deal with a tantrum throwing toddler…. I am crumbling.

Those times when the stress becomes overwhelming and the to-do list is not getting done…. I am in need of a helper.

And then the times I feel guilty for the way I just reacted.

And, I must ask my children for forgiveness.

And, I must accept that the house is a mess, and the laundry isn’t done, and I simply cannot live up to my own expectations...I am in need.

The times I must wipe away my pride and sit humbly before the Lord because I cannot do it on my own…. I need more than myself. I am in desperate need of a Savior.

Each day I do my best, but nothing quite like motherhood is a daily reminder that on my own, without the help of the Lord, my best is NOT good enough.

Aren’t you glad?

Aren’t you glad, as a mom, that you don’t have to do this on your own?

When you fall short, when you miss the mark, when you realize that you messed up with your kids. It’s ok. It’s ok for no other reason than that we have a Savior, a helper. One who has already covered over our mistakes by the sacrifice made on that cross so many years ago. One who has already promised to be our helper in the middle of life’s chaos. One who promises to be strong in the midst of our weakness.

SO mommas, humbly and happily embrace the beautiful truth that today, you need a Savior, and that Savior is Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith- and this is not from yourself, this is a gift from God.”

2 Corinthians 12:9″ But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Failing Motherhood. My need for a Savior. Lesson learned from Motherhood. Falling short. Being mom. I need Jesus. Faith throughout motherhood. Learning.
